This is milestone! It’s hard to believe but 2020 marked Dr. Dirk Thompson’s, our Calgary dentist, 25th anniversary of graduating from the University of Alberta’s dental school and membership with the Alberta Dental Association & College. In May of this year, our Calgary dentist will be celebrating his 26th year of practicing dentistry. It truly is astonishing how time flies when you’re having fun and serving the oral healthcare needs of thousands of incredible patients in Calgary, Alberta.
A Little Bit About Our Calgary Dentist, Dr. Dirk Thompson
Our Calgary dentist, Dr. Dirk Thompson, grew up in Edmonton, Alberta. After obtaining his high school diploma, Dr. Dirk Thompson continued to obtain his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Alberta in 1989, followed by his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Alberta in 1995.
Dr. Dirk Thompson began his career as a dentist first in Edmonton, followed by a year in Red Deer. In 1997, our Calgary dentist purchased a small dental practice located in the same building where Advance Your Health Dental is located today. Over the years, the practice grew and Dr. Dirk Thompson moved the dental practice to its new office at the location it is today.
Always a hard worker, during his University years, our Calgary dentist ran his own student painting company during the summers and even worked at a concrete company and as a plumber’s apprentice prior to becoming a dentist.
These days, when our Calgary dentist isn’t at his dental office helping to create and maintain healthy and beautiful smiles, you can find him enjoying time with his wife and three sons, tackling a do-it-yourself project at home or at his dental office (those painting skills have really come in handy over the years!) or spending time in Alberta’s beautiful outdoors biking, hiking and exploring our amazing mountains.

For more than 22 years, our Calgary dentist has been providing dental services at his inviting and modern office located in the beautiful and vibrant community of Kensington (Hillhurst/Sunnyside) in central NW Calgary, Alberta, at 1228 Kensington Road NW.
Kensington has a wonderful mix of restaurants (shout out to one of our favourites, Pepino’s), coffee shops, bakeries, retail businesses and professional offices. Kensington’s Business Revitalization Zone is very active and several times through the year offers events and displays that are great entertainment for kids and adults alike. If you haven’t walked around Kensington for awhile, be sure to do so either before or after you next Calgary dentist appointment and enjoy the array of products and services being offered by the many small businesses in our Calgary dentist’s community of Kensington/Hillhurst/Sunnyside.
Our Calgary dentist’s office is easily accessible from Calgary’s C-Train station in Kensington/Sunnyside adjacent to the Safeway and there is plenty of parking around the Kensington Professional Building where our Calgary dental office is located. There is also underground parking at our Calgary dentist office in the Kensington Professional Building’s underground parkade.
